Description

Nicholas Dobree reports that the only items found from the Victory are large fragments of masts and pumps, on Guernsey a staysail, on Sark, small gun carriages marked GR and an oar, marked Victory, Captain Cotterell's portmanteau, on Alderney. Part of the stern has been found on the French coast. The accident happened on the night of 4-5 October 1744.
