Description

Reports update on malignant fever in St. George's; states 'from the circumstances which have come to my knowledge, there can be no doubt that this disorder was introduced here by the ship Hankey, Captain Cox, which carried out settlers to the Island of Bulam, and came to Grenada on her return; reports a great number of Royalists have emigrated from Martinique and has granted temporary asylum to them, but states has 'however avoided, as far as possible, granting permissions to Free Persons of Colour. Fewer of this class than [I] could have expected have arrived here, and those who remain for the present, have found the security of a responsible white person for their good behavior'; encloses a resolution of the Council and Assembly regarding the emigrants; refers to defences against French forces.
