Description

Acknowledges receipt of letters; refers to state of signal posts and batteries on the coast of Grenada and Carriacou; refers to regiments of militia; malignant fever prevailing in St. George's; 'Negro Labour Bill' [Bill for increasing enslaved labour to work on the fortifications of Grenada]; reports that Colonel Pringle has fallen ill and died of the fever; reports death of Mr. Sharpe, Solicitor General, and appointment of Abraham Charles Wye, as his replacement; encloses an abstract of christenings, marriages, and burials in Grenada, from 25 March 1792 to 21 March 1793, inclusive, extracted from the Parish Registers [Christening statistics include information on free and enslaved persons]; encloses an abstract of expense incurred by the colony on the fortifications from 1 January 1785 to 31 December 1792, inclusive [includes information on enslaved labour].
