Folio 180. Letter from Giles Duxbury, overseer of Prestwich, to the Poor Law Commissioners. The debt due in respect of building the workhouse at Prestwich is secured to the executors of the estate of the late Reverend James Lyon by a mortgage deed on the poor rates. The amount realised by the sale of furniture and fixtures is £50 and remains in the hands of the Manchester Board of Guardians who were the purchasers. The inhabitants of Prestwich would not object to sell the workhouse, the original cost was £1840
