Clavering to the duke of Newcastle in cipher: on his asking [General] Donop how the king could show his appreciation of his support, he replied he would appreciate a pension once peace had been made. Donop's influence with the landgrave. The question of Hanau. Clavering has not approached Mr. Schmerfeld. General Angelelly disqualified from civil or military service by his religion. Possibility of bribing the landgrave's private secretary. The landgrave's hatred of Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick, and his longing to command a separate corps, which Clavering recommends should be flattered. Mr. Hardenberg has remained in Rinteln.
