Harrington to Cumberland: the king's concern at the fall of Ghent. Will the French send reinforcements to Conti? He encloses a copy of his letter to Newcastle on the subject of the release of Belle-Isle, and Newcastle's answer.Cumberland is to sound the French court about it. The marquis of Tweeddale requests further information on the recruitment for Lord John Drummond's regiment. Equal manning (with the Dutch) of the garrisons. The Hessians are to march direct to the Rhine. Safety of the artillery in Antwerp. Fears of a French invasion of Britain. Dated at Hanover. ff. 242-246
