Description

Arenberg's memorial: when the British cavalry arrives the army will be 44 battalions and 55 squadrons strong. The reporters of deserters and local correspondents are not to be relied upon. Having crossed the Main will lead to a shortage of fodder. A camp across the Main will not deter the French any more than one on this side. The bridge across the Rhine assures communications with Heilbronn. If the Rhine must be crossed, it were better to do so below Mainz. He would be willing to submit a plan of his own. ff. 98, 99
