Petition to the king of Major Richard Bassett: following his court martial he was suspended for six months, of which he has served three. He has petitioned Stair for the remission of the remainder, but Stair replied that it was not in his power. He therefore petitions the king not to be dismissed the service and for the rest of the suspension to be remitted. Dated at Bruges. ff. 229, 230
