Extract from a letter to M de Wasner from Arenberg: Stair has proposed that seven British battalions should remain at Mons, Ath and Charleroi. Since listening to the rhetoric of Prince George of Hesse and M de Monpietin [sic], he will not move his troops into Germany without new orders from the king. Arenberg would be prepared to move without the cavalry. PS. that Stair has shown him a memoir which does not differ greatly from his own views. Dated at Brussels. ff. 217, 218
