Memorial on conversations between Stair, Arenberg and Neipperg: the need for infantry; it would be more sensible for British troops to winter in Normandy than in Britain or Ireland. Austria needs more troops in the low countries, and should be subsidized to increase their number. Troops should be engaged from Münster and Cologne. More Saxon troops should be employed. It might be possible to engage Danish troops. The Dutch army will doubtless be committed to the common cause. The memorial will not touch on the king of Sardinia. Since the French employ Swiss troops, the allies might do the same. Irish catholic regiments might be raised. Dated at The Hague. ff. 13-15
