Prince William of Hesse to Stair: he thanks Stair for his attempt to reconcile him with his friends, but is not aware that he has offended any of them. The need to remove the emperor's dependence on France, the means to which [his retention of Bavaria] is stated in the enclosed apostil [SP 87/9/78], and will be explained to Stair by the emperor's minister at The Hague.
