Stair to Carteret: plan for a general pacification based on the extension of the Dutch border to the Somme, the creation of a barrier between the empire and France consisting of Lorraine, the three bishoprics, Strasbourg, Alsace and Franche-Comté, in exchange for Bavaria, the king of Great Britain to be mediator. Reasons why this would be acceptable to the empire, the Dutch, Saxony and Russia. He encloses a copy of his letter [SP 87/9/43] and proposals [SP 87/9/44] to Prince William of Hesse. His meeting with Count Sinzheim, arranged by Count [Otto Christoph von] Podewils. Sinzheim has asked for authentic accounts of the French approaches to Maria Theresa. He encloses a copy of his letter to Count Königseck. Dated at The Hague. PS. on the king of Sardinia. ff. 82-85
