Carteret to Stair (secret): the king's displeasure at SP 87/9/33. Ministers abroad should not act without the knowledge of their own courts. He is sending two secret letters, with answers, from Prince William of Hesse; the emperor has already approached the king through that channel, and Stair's action may create confusion.
