Major General Howard to Carteret: the town was ill-prepared for their arrival; there are insufficient beds for the men. His discussions with Count de la Laing [governor of Bruges]. There is no forage for the cavalry in either Bruges or Ostend. He suggests Mr. Hatton, deputy consul at Ostend, be put in charge. Dated at Bruges. ff. 191, 192
