Description (What the record is about)
-
George Cokburne at Portsmouth to the Board. Went to the Isle of Wight to speak with John Mordaunt about the tonnage of the transports. He says each man requires a ton and a half on foreign voyages and opines the troops would be too crowded over one ton. He was satisfied when he heard of how the transports were fitted. Proposed to him that the Prosperous Amelia could be turned into a foot ship and the Fasciens could be stowed in the holds of the Hospital ships and have ordered they are fitted accordingly. Will fit the Jason.
