John Clevland. The Coventry is to be supplied with a 6-oared Deal cutter on lieu of the 10-oared boat as requested by Captain Scrope but neither of the boats allowed her are capable of boarding ships at sea. Several Captains of 6th rates complain of their boats and ask for Deal cutters and the boats supplied are often laid aside. Propose it may be more eligible to allow 6-oared Deal cutters in future to all 6th rates in lieu of their 10-oared boats
