Description (What the record is about)
-
Extract letter from the Gibraltar Officers to the Board. Lord Tyrawley has forbidden us to erect anything without his permission. Asked Captain Maplesden to wait on him with the plan but he had no directions about any buildings and would not look at the plan. Sir Edward Hawke ordered us to build a large shed for beasts, a wash and wood house at the Hospital but had no artificers in the yard, Captain Maplesden applied to Lord Tyrawly for house carpenters and sawyers but he will take away the men when the Mahon regiments are gone. When the garrison of Portmahon arrived, we had a major and captain quartered upon us even though Captain Knight of the Phoenix, showed Lord Tyrawley the copy grant for the White Convent being appropriated for Naval stores and lodgings for the Officers. The shed for the Artificers to be sent out to us has been pulled down by Lord Tyrawley.
