John Clevland. Captain Hughes informs the Deal Castle will not carry sail in her present condition. Proposal to make her foremast into a main mast and to shorten her other masts and yards in proportion. We cannot account for her being tender and propose that instead of reducing the masts, the main, fore courses and topsails are lessened by taking a cloth out of each of them and shorten the yards accordingly. Iron ballast should be added and a trial made
