John Clevland. Murdock Mackenzie has had difficulty in getting his pay for the time he was surveying the North West Coast of Scotland. When his allowance was last paid he produced a certificate from George Paine, Master of the Culloden Smack. No such certificate has been produced by him and his affidavit is so imperfect, we cannot order a bill to be made out. If the Master's journals are in your office an extract could be made from them and an order could be issued
