Description (What the record is about)
-
Copy letter from Bernard Nonnen at Oldenburg to the Board. Has had 2 sailors from the Nassau brought here by Captain Day from Nantes and sent to the Thames by the Bremen Tradeship, Diderick Vogelsang, Master. The Danish Customs Officers were troublesome about the River Weser, one of whose banks is German. Has written to the Stadholder, Count Linar, to give him leave to pass unmolested under British colours. He required a certificate from the Ambassador to Copenhagen. I was stopped and imprisonned on the 20th but have not been charged. Has sent copies of correspondence to the Earl of Holderness, the Principal Secretary of State in Hanover, and to Mr Ttitley HM Ambassador in Copenhagen. Asks for Mr Titley to be informed of his commission. Had difficulty calming 50 English sailors who offered to rescue him from arrest and clear the deck of Danish soldiers and is still imprisonned
