Description (What the record is about)
-
John Clevland. Commodore Townshend has tried to justify himself about irregularities we complained of relating to the purchase of stores for the merchant ship the St. John. We ordered him in January 1750 to convert stores including sails but he has not responded. The necessity to purchase stores at such great expense when there are many stores in the storehouses seems extraordinary. We refer him to the Storekeepers' instructions relating to drafts for money. The Renown has delivered an account of the artificers and labourers borne at Jamaica
