Paul Shipley, Surgeon of the Hawke Sloop, at St. Simon's Island, Georgia. Asks for the Board's protection as Captain Gascoigne has threatened to destroy him by giving confused orders. Last July he was ordered to Fort St. Simons to bring up one of our men who was injured by a fall. He brought him to a house ashore ordered to receive him and was insulted by a woman who complained about him to the Captain. He was beaten by the Captain who threatened him with a pistol, which has made him unfit for duty. Asks to be called home
