Arrangement
Arrangement

The S.GEN (Staff General) registry series was created in the 1930s to accommodate papers concerning establishment matters, replacing the main Home Office registration system which involved the allocation of a simple, six-figure reference number to each file. It was in turn superseded by the ESG 'symbol' series which originated in 1951.
