Description

Reports need for markets for diamonds and balata, or government assistance for industries, to avert possibility of 'serious trouble'. Asks Colonial Office to 'ascertain from Triefus 4 Holborn Viaduct percentage amount per carat set up in their valuation table(s) used by Royal Bank of Canada it is safe to advance on British Guiana diamonds'. A Colonial Office official enquires, 'who is Triefus? a pure bred Saxon or an Alien Enemy?'; enquiry is subsequently made to the Home Office who report the naturalisation as British citizens of Edward Triefus and Simon Triefus. Unnumbered telegram, folios 292-309
