Administrative / biographical background

From 1947, responsibilities for the matters dealt with in this series lay with various 'F' Divisions in the Home Office Police Department. In 1970, the responsibilities were assumed by F6 Division: that Division became part of the Fire and Emergency Planning Department in 1984, and in July 1989 was re-named EP Division.
