Note
The guard note suggests a date of 1364 and following for the petition. However, the form of the petition is not that of a petition of that date, and seems quite clearly to be no earlier than the late fourteenth century. As the petition is by Parisian hostages in England, the petition can only really date from late in Henry V's reign, and consequently a date of c. 1416-c. 1422 has been adopted, and it may be that this petition can be dated to after the tresty of Troyes in 1420.
