Reference
SC 8/160/7963
Date
[1332]
Description
Petitioners
Michael Minyhot.
Name(s)
Minyhot, Michael
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Minyhot requests a pardon for the purchase of the manor of Coldrey from prior and convent of Goldcliff for their great necessity.
Nature of endorsement
He should come and show what he has for himself in Chancery, and let the value of it be enquired of and the damage that it is to the king, and let what they find be reported to the council.
Places mentioned
Coldrey (Coldra), [Monmouthshire, Wales]
Gloucestershire.
People mentioned
Prior and convent of Goldcliff.
Note
The petition dated to 1332 as the inquisition ad quod damnum was held into the matter in 6 Edw. III (C 143/219/18). Although the document appears to locate Coldrey in Gloucestershire (unless the scribe only meant that the appurtenances lay there), it clearly relates to the manor of Coldra in Monmouthshire, which belonged to Goldcliff and was later granted to Eton College.
