Council.
Nature of request
The monks request a writ out of Chancery to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to remove the hand from the house and not to meddle further with it as before this time they have not been taken into the king's hand because of war with France, but because the prior is an alien preferred by the pope their house has been taken into the king's hand.
Nature of endorsement
Because it is found by many certifications of the Exchequer returned into Chancery that the priory has never been taken into the king's hand in time of war with France, and the prior and monks ought to have a pardon of the farm for being taken into the king's hand because it was an alien house and have restitution of the temporalities and goods, because the prior was an alien and preferred by the pope.
