Hereward requests remedy as the prior of Goldcliff has sued a writ of scire facias against him in the name of the king that he had entered the prior's land at Preston by force and arms and carried away corn, and has subsequently hindered an inquisition into the matter and troubled both Hereward and the jury.
Nature of endorsement
Because it is attested before the council that the petitioner did try to come before the justices of assize but the prior withdrew, it is assented by the council in parliament that should have the record against him and further writs of nisi prius to the justices to take the inquisition according to the law.
