- [The petition is not entirely legible, and the full sense of the petition is difficult to discern].The mayor and commonalty request remedy as the city is held of the king for a farm of 100 marks annually, and the farm has been granted to the queen for her life . . . the issues from the administration of justice which the citizens used to pay their farm has been granted to others.

- The petition is likely to date to c. 1327 when Queen Isabella received a grant of the city for life, though it is possible that the readjustment to this in 1331 may have been in part because of this petition (Wolffe, B.P., The Royal Demesne in English History, (1971), pp.234-5).
