Reference
SC 8/158/7859
Date
[1310-1315]
Description
Petitioners
Abbot and convent of . . ..
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The abbot and convent request that they may be able to acquire 60s of land notwithstanding the statute, they having suffered destruction by ransom and by the Scots.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
France.
Note
The petition is dated to 1310-1315 because the petition refers to the king's return from France 2 years previously. The guard note suggests 1310 on the basis of the king's absence in 1308, but as the petition appears to refer to the damage done by the Scots, a later date of 1315 is possible and seems more probable, the king being in France twice in 1313.
