- The petition is dated to 1310-1315 because the petition refers to the king's return from France 2 years previously. The guard note suggests 1310 on the basis of the king's absence in 1308, but as the petition appears to refer to the damage done by the Scots, a later date of 1315 is possible and seems more probable, the king being in France twice in 1313.
