The messengers request remedy for the extortions, damages and many other imprisonments made by More for which they have feeble remedy, and that they have been informed that Hampton has sent many wicked people from Portsmouth to Jersey who have robbed and killed many of the people, and more are being collected at Southampton.

The petition dates to c. 1342 as the dissention on the island caused the appointment of justices to consider the matter, and to an order to the keeper of the islands to restore the goods of the people (CCR 1341-3, p.597; CPR 1343-5, p.83).
