Reference
SC 8/157/7849
Date
[1290-1311]
Description
Petitioners
Henry Fitz Roger.
Name(s)
Fitz Roger, Henry
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Fitz Roger requests remedy and amends as the abbot has ejected him and his neighbours from their lands and detained their chattels by colour of a judgment in the king's court in a suit between Fitz Roger, his neighbours and the abbot against the express command of the king and council made in parliament in his 8th year.
Nature of endorsement
In Chancery he should sue a writ before the king at Easter in 15 days.
People mentioned
Abbot of Halesowen
Ralph de Hengham.
Note
The petition is dated to 1280 to 1300 on the basis of the reference to Ralph de Hengham in note added to the bottom of the petition. Hengham was active as a justice from 1274 to 1311 when he died, and this petition makes mention of a parliament in the 8th year of Edward I. The hand of the petition seems to be later in this range of dates.
