Nature of request
The messengers request remedy for the salvation of the isle, as they are threatened by the enemy, Guernsey being in enemy hands, and the garrison is in need of reinforcement.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that the garrison is sufficient, but if more are needed let them be recruited from the people of the isle at their cost as it is for their salvation.

The petition has been dated on the basis of a guard note to c. 1340, though the entries clearly do not relate directly to the petition, they do reveal that their was considerable French naval activity in the Channel at this time (CPR 1340-3, p.18).
