Nature of request
Aubyn and others, citizens of Winchester, request remedy in that they were imprisoned for six days in Portchester Castle until they agreed to buy corrupted wines provided for the king there, and undertook to buy the wine for £139 but have failed to sell it in Flanders and Ireland. They further request that the mayor of Winchester come to the castle concerning the wine and they request remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Let certain people be assigned in Chancery to enquire of this matter in the presence of Stephen Abingdon, then butler of the king and of other things touching this business, and when the inquisition has been returned into Chancery let it be shown to the king so that he can give his will on it.
