Nature of request
1) The merchants request that it be ordained how they are able to have delivery of their gold coins taken by the seneschal of Saintonge and Angouleme.2) Guillaum requests that he be quit of the wine custom for ten or twelve years, and that he have a writ for the acquittance from the date of the patent, he having a previous grant at the king's will.1)

Concerning the first let it be written to the seneschal that he . . . restore . . ., and if he does not wish to that he . . .2) Concerning the second, he should have it for three years on condition that he restore the letters that he has of the will of the king, and let it be done after the date of the first grant.

The petition can be dated to 1342 on the basis of the warrant relating to the second part of the petition which is dated to 4 June 1342 (16 Ed. III), and by a grant to Guillaum of an acquittance from customs for three years for his service to the king in the Gascon wars that dates to 3 June 16 Edw. III (C 81/284/14819; C 61/54 m.24).
