Note
The petition dates to 1380. The original commission to Mortimer seems to have been made on 22 October 1380 (CPR 1377-81, p.556). The petition must have followed soon after this as the response to the petition makes it clear that it was given at Northampton, and the king and council were at Northampton for most of November and until about 8 December 1380 (CCR 1377-81, pp.412-25).
