Reference
SC 8/156/7756
Date
[? 1320]
Description
Petitioners
Abbot and convent of Conway.
Addressees
[None].
Nature of request
The abbot and convent request remedy as the sheriffs of Caernarfon and Anglesey will not permit them to have their liberty of infangenthef and outfangenthef granted to them by the king's father.
Nature of endorsement
They should have a writ of Chancery that the ministers of the king should permit the abbot to have infangenthef and outfangenthef according to the tenor of the charter, and just as they had until now etc.
Places mentioned
Conway, [Caernarfonshire, Wales]
Caernarfon, [Caernarfonshire, Wales]
Anglesey, [Anglesey, Wales].
Note
The petition is dated to? 1320 because the petition to which this was formerly attached is dated to? c. 1320 (SC 8/30/1464). Rees dated that petition to? 1307 but this dating must be considered suspect (Petitions Relating to Wales, p.40). The petition is also likely to date to later Edward II as many of the petitions in this file are dated to 1320.
