Nature of request
Remedy is requested concerning outrageous charges for the common crossing from Dover to Wissant.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the constable of Dover Castle and the keeper of the Cinque Ports that they inform themselves of how much men and horses at Dover were accustomed to pay for the crossing, and having called the ferry-keepers before them they are to order them on the king's behalf under pain of great forfeiture to charge what was accustomed to be charged, and to compel them to keep to this, and not to oppress them by such extortions.
