[The petition is badly damaged, and the full sense of the petition is difficult to recover].The mayor and commonalty request that they be discharged from the arrears from their farm and can have remedy . . . as the lands around the city are utterly destroyed and they cannot pay their farm.

They should have respite of the sum until Michaelmas next, and let it be ordered by writ of the great seal to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer of Dublin that they search the rolls and remembrances and . . .

The petition is speculatively dated to? 1320-? 1330 on the basis of the hand. The response to the petition is in French which usually indicates a petition after 1322, and the petition may relate to the burning of the suburbs of Dublin on the approach of the Scots and Irish in 1317, though the petition does not necessarily need to date to as early as this.
