Merton requests remedy as he stood security for Swaleclyf to have him delivered from prison where he had been imprisoned for failing to pay a certain sum due on a statute merchant to Stonham, but Merton has been imprisoned for a long time and he and his family ruined as the recognisance he made for Swaleclyf has passed unpaid by Swaleclyf's fraud and evil.
