Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition has to date to c. 1324 as the petition refers to the previous keeper of the castle recovering the castle with the aid of the earl of Pembroke, and the earl died in 1324. The reference to the abandonment of the castle presumably refers to the war of 1321-2. Rees' dating of 1328 seems too late (Petitions Relating to Wales, pp.256-7).
