The petition is dated to 1327-33, as the dorse refers to the petition being delivered to Richard de Bury who was a close adviser to Edward III in his early years. The petition is likely to date to the period 1327-1333 as these are the dates between the beginning of Edward III's reign and Bury's elevation to the see of Durham. There are several other petitions dated in a similar way which are likely to be contemporary.
