Nature of request
[The petition is badly damaged, and is missing approximately a third from the right-hand side of the petition, and the dull sense of the petition is difficult to recover]. The bishop makes a request concerning his position as ordinary concerning baptism and burial.
Nature of endorsement
He should have a writ of Chancery to the justices . . such as seems good to the chancellor in the case to enquire what jurisdiction he had in the hospital . . . before that hospital was in the hands of the bishops, what jurisdiction the bishops had there when it was in their hand, and the inquisition is to take place in the presence of their parties, and it should be returned into Chancery . . .

The petition is dated to? c. 1305-? c. 1325 on the basis of the hand. It has proved impossible to identify the bishop.
