The archbishop of York requests that justice is done to him as although he and his predecessors have been peacefully seised of the manor of Cawood with its appurtenances as of the right of their church, the escheator north of the Trent has seized a third of the woods and moor of this manor into the king's hand, without reason or judgment.

CCR 1296-1302 p.543 is dated at Westminster, 2 August 1302, and the writ which is the immediate response to this petition is dated at Roxburgh, 17 February 30 Edward I (1302). This is confirmed by the dating clause of SC 8/153/7618.
