Melton requests remedy as William Wickwane, his predecessor was disturbed in his port of Hull by Columbers, and the port with its prise of wine still remains in the king's hand.1)

He should come into Chancery and show his charter, and the chancellor is to call to him the council and do what ought to be done.2) Coram rege.

The petition is dated on the guard to c. 1322. The petition is answered in French which suggests a date of 1322 or thereafter when such responses predominate. Archbishop Melton was consecrated in 1317 and died in 1340. It is not clear why the guard date has been selected. The petition may be contemporary with SC 8/153/7610.
