Nature of request
The Wades request remedy as although they and their father and grandfather were both of free status Menille's lieutenant has seized their chattels because they will not accept to hold their land in villeinage.1)
Nature of endorsement
Because Menille is not now keeper let it be ordered to the present keeper that he enquire of the cause by which the chattels were taken, and that thence they are to inform the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer of what is established by the inquisition.2) And afterwards it was ordered to the keeper to certify upon the manner and cause of the taking.3) Coram mango consilio.
