- The petition is one of a number, almost certainly contemporary, bearing this response. The petition is dated to 1327-1333 as the response refers to Richard de Bury. Bury was a close adviser of the young Edward III, and the petition must date to the period from the start of his reign until Bury was made bishop of Durham in 1333. Evidence for SC 8/152/7558 suggests that these petitions date to late 1330/early 1331.
