Nature of request
Walingford requests payment of the debts that the king owes him for victuals taken for the war and for the arrears of his wages, or that something is assigned to him to live on in the king's service until the king is advised on the matter as he has lost all his lands, son and retinue in Scotland, and nothing has been done on several orders for payment.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the treasurer, barons and chamberlains that viewing the commands for payment that this petition refers to, they are to certify the king and advise him on what ought to be done. 2) Coram rege.
Note
The petition has been dated to? c. 1314 in accordance with the guard dating which appears to be made on the basis of the contents of the petition which clearly relate to the collapse of English rule in Scotland following the defeat at Bannockburn.
