Coram rege.2) Let the petition be sent to Richard de Bury so that he can show it to the king so that the king can say his will.
People mentioned
Richard de Bury.
Note
The petition is one of a number, almost certainly contemporary, bearing this response. The petition is dated to 1327-1333 as the response refers to Richard de Bury. Bury was a close adviser of the young Edward III, and the petition must date to the period from the start of his reign until Bury was made bishop of Durham in 1333. Because of damage to the petition, it is not entirely clear what the petitioner is asking for in the King's household, but if it is an office, it is quite probable that the grant of the office of Warrener of Leeds made to the petitioner on 22 January 1331 is made in response to this petition (CPR 1330-4, p.45). If this is so, it narrows the date of petitions answered referring the requests to Richard de Bury to early 1331.
